Radiology in Crete, Greece – Optional Day Tours
Sunday, October 2nd
On Sunday, our full day tour will take us to historic
Vai-Toplou Monastery-Sitia. We will visit Crete’s east end part, which is a world apart with rich flora and fauna, beautiful villages, beaches, gorges, caves and important archeological sites from the Minoan Ancient Greece and Roman times. We continue our tour, heading to Monastery of Toplou or Our Lady of the Cape. It is one of the most important monasteries of Crete. The two aisled church is dedicated to the nativity of Virgin Mary and St. John Evangelist, with fragments of wall paintings from the 14-15th centuries and an important portable Icon of the 18th century.
After the Monastery visit, we head to Sitia, located at north eastern coast of Crete. A small lively town of 10,000 inhabitants. It is an amphitheatrical built town, with a very quiet and picturesque harbor, long sandy beach and small archeological museum. Lunch included in Sitia.

We offer two options for Tuesday that will expand your view of the wonderful island of Crete. Discover the treasures of Aghios Nikolaos and Kritsa Village. Our coaches will take us to Kritsa, one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in Crete, built amphitheatrical on a rock hill surrounded by olive groves.
For a more active afternoon, take sailing tour on board a traditional caique to Spinalonga Island. Spinalonga is known as the Leper Island, as it was a leper colony until 1957. Now abandoned, the island is a major attraction for visitors who want to explore the ghost town and investigate its tragic past.

We offer a jump to the past for Wednesday afternoon with a visit to Greco Farm. This Estate recreates centuries old farming methods in a traditional village setting. Here, we will participate in a farm tasting tour, activity, as well as a farm to table dinner serving a Cretan menu along with organic wine and raki, the local spirit of Crete.
Thursday, October 6th

In the afternoon, we will take a trip to Knossos Palace and Heraklion City. Knossos Palace is the largest Bronze age archaeological site on Crete and is Europe’s oldest city, the Minoan Palace being a must-see! Our next adventure will be a tour through Heraklion City, the island’s capital. We will break up the tour with some shopping opportunity followed by a traditional Cretan dinner in the city.
Or for a more active afternoon, grab a helmet and hang on during our Mountain Cycling tour.
