Radiology in Lyon, France - Optional Day Tours

On Sunday, our full day tour will take us to Annecy, on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, just 22 miles (35 kilometers) south of Geneva. Because of its proximity to Switzerland, over the centuries the city has been ruled by the Swiss and French. Today it is referred to as the “Venice of the Alps” with three canals of the Thiou River.

Weaving through the “old”city, our coaches will take us to the port on Lake Annecy where we will board our boat to cruise around the very beautiful lake whose stunning scenery led to Annecy’s reputation as a tourist attraction. We will have lunch and walk in the old city along its canals, visiting the Palace of Isle and Castle of Annecy. You will have time on your own to explore before going back to Lyon.

Please note: if you plan to participate in our full day tour to Venice of the Alps on Sunday, April 23, you will need to arrive by Saturday, April 22.

Monday afternoon, our walking tour will take us through one of the largest Renaissance sites in Europe, Le Vieux Lyon. Discover the secrets of this unique area with its rich architectural heritage. 

We break up the tour with a ride on the funicular to reach the top of Fourvière Hill, stopping to visit the Basilica of Notre Dame and enjoy the amazing views from there.

Tuesday afternoon, we offer two options that will expand your view of the wonderful city of Lyon. Discover the treasures of the city with a boat ride on the Rhône and Saône Rivers, or... for a more active afternoon, tour the center of the city on an electric bike. Both tours offer very different experiences. 

Wednesday Morning: We offer a Culinary Challenge for Wednesday morning. What better place to learn all of the tips and tricks of a local chef! Everyone will try to make the best starter, main course, and of course, dessert. 

At the end of the challenge, there is time to share a perfect meal, savoring all of your hard work.

Wednesday Afternoon: The Beaujolais wine region covers more than ninety villages, and over half the wine produced is sold with an AOC designation. Wednesday afternoon, we will explore these villages, stopping at the medieval village of Oingt, Bagnols and its amazing castle, and more. In the heart of the region, we find an old 17th century Beaujolais farm, La Rousselière, which has been completely restored. Our evening meal will be a special country barbecue here, allowing us to truly enjoy the end of the day in a relaxing atmosphere.

Perched on its hill, Perouges is a perfect example of a Middle Ages town and is ranked among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France.” The architecture is typical, with houses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. On Thursday our coaches will take us there. The Place du Tilleul in the central square is surrounded by beautiful corbelled houses.
